That’s kinda sad to hear that after just 1 meeting he feels that way.

Hello,
Yes, just to add to Gord's point about how we present our desire to rebuild
OBE.
I spent time with our new guest Frank at the break to extol the benefits of
OBE. But by the the end of the meeting he searched me out to ask specifically
"What is wrong with this group that you used to have 65 members and only a few
years later you have 30? Why are so many people leaving? What's going on here?"
I have mentioned this point before but it really hits home when I have a
potential member who has never met us before picking up on this negative vibe
in the course of one meeting. I tried to spin it as best I could but he is
clearly put off and second guessing if this group is healthy or not.
Personally I think we are a great group. I explained that we are all here and
happy your here because it's a tight knit group and we are dedicated to each
other's success. Now to hope he can see us for what we are now and where we are
going instead of focusing on our lamentations of not being where we used to be.

Good morning OBE Executive.  I thought that was a fun meeting on Wednesday, and
so did a lot of other members.

Well done, M for doing the research on the budget and presenting it.  Well
done, Leah on the Speaker schedule.  Just a reminder Leah if you would explain
next meeting on the second speaker role, some members don’t understand the 3
minute Mini brief.

Lana had a great point regarding new membership.  The perception is we are
desperate for members due to the recent drop outs of the group.  Everyone is
aware now that we need to recruit, so let’s change the “perception”  to
positive reasons why we are members.  As Dave mentioned in his “Planned
presentation”, we are a group that not only cares and values the members, but
we also help in so many other ways, and our community.

Wes mentioned that when we do our networking, we try a “one on one” to get to
know your membership  better.  Let’s give it a shot.

Well done Executive.

Gord & Dave.
