I have spoken with Kevin and Dawn and relayed to them that the OBE is
considering given them a gift which "could" be in the form of a cheque
possibly, or doing something else that might go towards things like finances, a
family trip (to Vancouver Island like Tofino? or Long Beach?), or establishing
some fund as a legacy in Kevin's name (this could be in the form of a
scholarship in Kevin's name given to a student at Okanagan Adventist Academy
sponsored exclusively by the OBE). The trip or scholarship were their ideas,
but I would note they were very humbled and appeared somewhat reluctant our
group would even consider them.....my feeling is they were just so surprised we
would do something and they didn't want to come across as a family looking for
a handout.
I mentioned the other night they were at one time considering going to Disney
Land on a family trip, but his health at this time/insurance would likely be to
much for him.
Regardless, they were very appreciative of what we're talking about, but also
felt perhaps we may want to consider something or someone else instead of them.
They said they are a very blessed family with all the support and prayers
people have given them during this time and asked me to "thank-you" for
considering them during this time.
So I don't know if we're any further ahead than we were before we
started....sorry this took a little time to get back to you all. Anyways
instead of exchanging a ton of emails perhaps we can meet again if you feel
that's best.....
