The devil is in search keywords...

“Mailman hosting service” search returns few like this -
https://www.mailmanlists.net

Looks like it will be $4/mo with our domain name + 15% discount for 3
years. $1,713.6 for 42 years.
https://www.mailmanlists.net/en/pricing

Features:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Mailman
Including:
*Web application <https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_application> for list
administration, archiving of messages, spam
<https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_spam> filtering, etc. Separate
interfaces are available for users (for self-administration), moderators
<https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_moderator> (to accept/reject list
posts), and administrators.*

Does someone know of a reliable private mailing list as a service with
reasonable monthly or annual fees that are not per user? We could just
prepay 42 years of that thing and be done.

Very quick googling shows some charging few $ per user/month which seems
disproportionate to the underlying cost of running such thing on something
like AWS Lightsail.

The important aspects of this change are as follows:

- more community control - the current GMail approach requires one of the
few with admin access to manually go in and add/remove/update email
addresses. We need more self-service.

- it needs to work for the ~50% of the group that don't want to use FB,
which would solve all this easily if that were acceptable to folks ;)

- I think there *is* a desire to be able to access historical threads,
just not by the general public!

I would doubt that a simple mail forward would give us what we need, but
I defer to the group for discussion.

Cheers

as dns – I can create mailforwards … maybe a mailforward is all we need (ex

Not sure about the limitations of this 😉

This is, indeed, the significant downside of this approach. If anyone
knows if there is a way to lockdown the messages then please let me know.

The Facebook Group wouldn't have had that problem... just sayin'!

For those not familiar with freelists (? anyone ?) there is an automatic
archive by month of all messages:
