list42@xxxxxxxxxxxx does not exist any longer, it was too expensive in
terms of money and effort.
oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxx is free, but part of the service is this archive
website which is publicly available to all as a condition of the service.
The lesson is: when it's free, you're not a customer, you're the product.
We're customers at oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

As I recall, oaktable.net <http://oaktable.net> webhotel was being put down due to expense and admin duties (but the name parked to avoid misappropiation or redirected to freelist)
freelist currently does the mailwork, but is not "private" enough, due to public archives.
Simplelist seemed affordable and "private".
I'm easy either way, but not happy about slack or other chatservices.

Thanks God you mention that. I thought I am the only one who does
not get it.
What is wrong with freelists?
Is a switch to simlelists decided yet? I thought it was just an
idea? Was there any decision yet?
completely confused

Am I the only one slightly confused now? Don't we now have three
lists:
list42@xxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:list42@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:oaktable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
So after another 39 mailing lists, we really should be good or what?

After the 30 day free trial, we can figure out whether (and
how) to pay? I'm not sure, but I'm betting they take PayPal
along with credit cards?
The level we're signed up for is $100/year, not $64/year
because (of course) the lower amount was essentially the
PowerPoint demo.

All,
We still have some cash in the Oaktable PayPal,
more than enough for several years of this email
service. Tim, if you are willing to set it up,
we can fund the first year and see how it goes?
Cheers

Hi
Despite the fact that I could use Slack (or
something else), from my point of view an
email-based list would be best. Hence, if we
take that direction, I would be happy to buy
the third year.
Cheers,

I’ll buy the second year.
As the world evolves towards the modern
communication mediums, we must resist and
stay true to the roots. Otherwise, what kind
of Oaktable is it?

first year (first month is free). This
will kick the can down the road until 13
months from now when we can either
decide to renew with the email list or
go to Slack or Discord or whatever new
communication technology is sweeping the
ether?
Let me know?
