Hi Leila,
We do not have any experience with this either. I will say that we had a Mock
Joint Commission Survey Last Dec. It was conducted by AYR consultants out of
Texas and I brought up the topic of medical marijuana in the hospital setting
at the medication management wrap up meeting and the surveyor was not in favor
of using it institutions at this time. Therefore, we are staying away from it
until our JC survey and then hopefully in the next 3 years the laws make it
easier to store, dispense, and administer in an institution like setting.
Thanks
Sandy

Subject: [nyschp.dop] Inpatient investigational trials with NYS Medical
Marijuana Program
Dear colleagues,
Please share your experience if your institution has set up inpatient
investigational trials with the NYS Medical Marijuana program.
A member health-system is looking to contract with a NYS registered medical
marijuana dispensary to provide medical marijuana and placebo for an inpatient
orthopedic trial. Does the facility have to become a registered caregiver in
order to operate? What are the logistical concerns to consider? Your feedback
is appreciated.
