POST GRADUATE YEAR-2 Emergency MEdicine Pharmacy residency program
Brooklyn, January 14, 2016- The Emergency Department (ED) is the front line for
providing medical care. It is also the main source of access to healthcare for
persons who seek immediate medical services. Clinicians are often challenged
with the task of providing optimal medical care with limited resources and
space. As the landscape of our health system continues to evolve, pharmacists
have transformed into a vital member who ensure safe and effective use of
pharmacotherapy in the ED.
LIU Pharmacy (Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences)
and The Brooklyn Hospital Center are pleased to announce the creation of the
Post-Graduate Year-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program. The mission
of the program is to provide the prospective resident opportunities to develop
into an independent practitioner with advanced expertise in a specialized
practice setting. Residents who successfully complete the program should
possess the knowledge and skills that will qualify them for a clinical
specialist and/or faculty position and attainment of board certification.
The prospective resident will be provided an academic appointment with LIU
Pharmacy (Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences) and
will have various opportunities to coordinate or deliver didactic lectures,
participate on academic committees, and precept senior pharmacy students.
