If so, we need to notify users to remove the add-on from their NVDA
installations and formally deprecate it unless Alberto and Beqa has found
another service to use.

Personally I wouldn't waste my time on trying to sniff this: we don't know if
it would be stable, and perhaps is not good to keep this api in our website for
this reason. There are another translations services, which can be used with or
without the add-on.
Just my opinion. Another possibility is to pay for getting an api key for the
add-on, though I think that it's not necessary since another services are
available.

Unfortunately it uses https, so I'm not able to sniff the API calls.
It doesn't have a proxy setting either, in order to try to crack
https. And That's aroundd where my hacking skills stop. I think there
are apps which can force a program to go through a proxy...
Maybe someone can make sense of what this program is doing, or simply
find the new aAPI on the net, because know we know it exists. I know
it uses google because I can see the host it's calling, only the http
content is jibberish.
