My response to the survey which I hope you will find helpful -
Use of email in health and social care- patient view
Patient perspective
This survey is to explore patient views on how email is used in health
and
social care.
The PRSB (Professional Record Standards Body for health and social
care) is
leading this project
(www.theprsb.org). The PRSB works to ensure that the requirements of
patients and health and social
care professionals are firmly embedded in information systems.
We are developing guidance for health and social care professionals
about
the use of email to
communicate patient information. Replacing paper communications with
email
would save the NHS over
£100m per year.
This questionnaire will help clarify when using email is/ is not
appropriate
and any concerns or issues this
may pose.
We would be grateful if you could take the time to complete a survey
that
will take you no more than 6
minutes. All answers will be completely anonymous.
If you represent a patient or professional organization, you are
welcome to
submit an ‘organisation’
response. If you wish to do so, please email your response to
mala.bridgelal_ram@xxxxxxxxxxxx
If you use tools to aid accessibility, please contact

Subject: [ntnm] Secure NHS email -patient survey

Dear fellow NTNM subscribers,

I work to make IT in health and social care as accessible as possible.

Despite teething problems, I think NTNM is fab, especially for the
massive
background work obtaining and preparing material - and a possible NHS
model.

Below is an invite to complete a survey on the use of email in care
settings.

Deadline is 5 October - apologies for the short notice.

This is not directly related to NHS England's Accessible Information
Standard - featured on this week's In Touch programme (BBC Radio 4,
8.40pm,
Tue 30 Sept).

However, Professor Carpenter (author of the below) and I are advisory
Group
members on that work too.

Many, many thanks for your help,
Howard (Leicester).

We are emailing you to explore patient views on how email is used in
health
and social care.

The PRSB (Professional Record Standards Body for health and social
care) is
leading this project (www.theprsb.org). The PRSB works to ensure that

that
will take you no more than 7 minutes. Click on the link below to
access it.

All answers will be completely anonymous.

If you represent a patient or professional organization, you are
welcome to
submit an 'organisation' response. If you wish to do so, please email
your
response to mala.bridgelal_ram@xxxxxxxxxxxx

If you use tools to aid accessibility, please contact

Please complete the questionnaire by 5 October.

Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards
Iain
