Hello Isaac,

Many thanks for all your hard work updating SpeakOn to read the new RNIB
NTNM newspapers and magazines. I have successfully downloaded and installed
the current version as you suggest in your recent email. However in the
main task list there are only seven items and I cannot find any way of
accessing the task for the NTNM Etext files. I have read your excellent
help pages but not made any progress on this.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Geoff Madge

Subject: [ntnm] New SpeakOn MediaSuite version with support for NTNM eText
and Audio available

Hello all,

A new version of SpeakOn Media suite is available with support for NTNM
eText and Audio publications. You can easily browse the NTNM publication
catalogue, and in one click download, clean, restructure and start to listen
to these newspapers and magazines.
There are also a number of advanced features to make reading NTNM
publications efficient and enjoyable.

SpeakOn is a free self-voicing program for the Windows OS so you can use it
with your desktop or laptop. It is designed for people who are comfortable
using computers. SpeakOn handles all kinds of media using the same user
interaction. It is designed for ease of use with minimal shortcut keys.
While user interaction is similar in many ways to a typical Windows
application, SpeakOn is different and new users should be prepared to spend
time learning how to use it. SpeakOn is about speech; there is nothing to
see on the screen and thus no magnification; there is no support for
Braille.

The specific features available for NTNM eText and Audio are highlighted
below. In the Announcement page (see below), there is information for
people who want to upgrade from a previous version of SpeakOn and for people
who are new to SpeakOn who might like to give it a try.

### NTNM eText publications supported are in the epub format with the
following features:

* The ability to browse the entire NTNM eText catalogue, save publications
to Favourites and download in a few seconds.

* User-defined settings to clean and restructure publications for ease of
use.

The SpeakOn player works with NTNM eText publications in the same way that
it works with all other media that SpeakOn supports. This includes one hand
operation, levels navigation, returning to a publication where you left off
and bookmark support. Specific features for NTNM eText include:

* Information about page numbers at any time.

* The ability to view individual articles in a browser for following links /
examining tables (useful of course if supported by the publication).

* Instant creation of virtual publications based on search terms including
page numbers.

* The ability to save in Archive the entire publication and individual
articles.

As an alternative to using the SpeakOn player, SpeakOn can generate HTML
output of the cleaned / restructured publications for use by external
devices.

### NTNM Audio support features:

* The ability to browse the entire NTNM Audio catalogue, save publications
to Favourites and stream or download in a few seconds.

* Navigate and stream a playlist of individual articles in the SpeakOn
player.

* Download publications in podcast fashion for use by either the SpeakOn
player itself or external devices.

The Announcement page with information for both experienced and new SpeakOn
users is here:
http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeakOn/MediaSuite/public/docs-r/Announcement.html

Thanks to RNIB for restoring the features enabling applications such as
SpeakOn to browse and download NTNM publications.
I am grateful to Gareth, John and Tom, members of this list, who helped
during the development phase of this version.

Regards,
Isaac Porat
