It's been quite a bit of fun getting out with my 8" over the last few nights.
Quite
different to the light gathering power of the 16", but interesting to compare
views. The Prince Charles ears of NGC 6853 pretty much disappear in the 8".
IC 5148 needs averted vision in the 8" where it pops right out in the 16".
Whereas
others like NGC 4755 and NGC 3293 seem to me nicer or prettier with less
aperture
they don't seem so busy. The 16" can go another 1.5 magnitudes deeper than the
8"

Venus, Saturn and Mars the latter now looking very distant
NGC 5139, NGC 5128, NGC 4945, NGC 4594, NGC 4361, NGC 5236 (M 83), NGC 4833,
NGC 4755, NGC 6720 (Ring Nebula), NGC 6853 (Dumbbell Nebula) NGC 6705, IC 5148,
NGC 7599, 7590, 7582, 7552 (Grus Quartet), NGC 7531, 47 Tuc, NGC 121, NGC 6723,
NGC 6960 (western section of the Veil nebula)

a quick tour of a few of my favourite carbon stars Beta Cru with its lovely
carbon
star neighbour, V Aql, T lyr
