FUTURE!You’re invited to an exclusive, one-time only, tour of Lawrence Tech’s
much talked about Solar HomeThursday, September 20, 20074:30-8:00 p.m.Lawrence
Technological University, Southfield, Mich.Don’t just read about it in the
papers, or watch it on television. Be the first to see it in person--Lawrence
Technological University’s (LTU) solar-powered, energy-positive home. After
many months of hard work, LTU students and faculty are getting ready to dazzle
Congressional leaders in Washington, DC with the result of their "Solar
Decathlon" project-an energy-efficient home they built piece by piece. But
before heating up Washington, The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) and LTU
are inviting you to get a sneak peak at this 700 square feet of living space
that will use the sun to generate all the power needed for heating, cooling,
lighting and appliance, as well as enough power left over to operate a small
electric vehicle. As an added bonus, members of LTU’s team ALOeTERRA will give
attendees a brief presentation about the home. The house will be dismantled at
the end of September, shipped to Washington, DC and then reassembled for the
October 12-20 Solar Decathlon competition. Lawrence Tech is one of just 20
universities across the globe and the only one in Michigan, chosen to take part
in the Solar Decathlon competition sponsored by the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory, which is part of the U.S. Department of Energy. The event will
kickoff at 5:00 p.m. with a networking opportunity, followed by a brief
presentation and a tour of the house. Cost is $20 per person and includes pizza
and soft drinks. ESD will donate a portion of the proceeds to LTU’s Solar Home
Decathlon team. SPACE IS LIMITED. REGISTER TODAY.For more information or to
