Subject: [northernlightssingers] Some dates and notes
Dear Singers,
I found last night's rehearsal a lot of fun and rewarding. Hope you're starting
to feel more on top of the pieces. It definitely sounds that way! THANKS for
your patience and persistence! Only eight more rehearsals before the Dress!
Here are some dates you need to put on your calendar.
June 11, 6:oo pm Performance ( call, 4:30 ) Concert Allen Ave UU church
June 10, 5-8:30 pm Dress Rehearsal Allen Ave UU church
June 9 6-9 pm Pre-dress Rehearsal, Christian Science Church
June 6 6:30-9:15 (Tuesday night )
June 5 5-8 pm.(Sunday, if needed)
May 9, 14, Sunday (5pm ), 16, 23, 30 Tuesdays, 6:30-9.
In addition, we would like to have you consider the following two performance
options:
June 5, Sunday morning, 10 am, Wiscasset Congregational Church Service: "The
Promise of Living," "Hold On," and "'Goin' Home."
June 16, Friday evening, 6:30 pm ( sing 3-4 pieces) as a prelude to a
Christian Science lecture by John Tyler, (see synopsis of bio below) at USM.
This is a way we could give back to the church that has graciously and
generously permitted our usage, free-of-charge.
I can't stress enough how important it is to share our gifts and to develop
poise and confidence in performing. We had hoped to sing at Ocean View and they
are already booked, so it would be great if you could commit to these two
possibilities. If we have several singers in each part, I'll go ahead and book
these, so please let me know asap if you're available. Also, Let me know about
any absence from the above rehearsals.
Much appreciation for your love of music and dedication in going the extra
miles!

PSS John Tyler, member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship,
earned degrees from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Paris, and Princeton
University and then taught political science at Princeton and at the University
of Pittsburgh. He began his professional life as a labor organizer to protect
exploited sweatshop workers. As a social activist he hoped to solve “all the
world’s problems.” He also worked with inmates in a state penitentiary as a
spiritual counselor. He believes we must understand underlying issues to build
a just society He founded a residence for students at the University of
Pittsburgh which seeks to heal racial divisions; for this he received the
YWCA’s Racial Justice Award. John’s lectures are designed to show how natural
it is to change our vision of ourselves so we all can become spiritual healers.
