We have a second club trainer!
Mike Anders' radio will be going into Tony Hobson's EP Wot Trainer. Tony will
hang onto the model and the radios unless and until needed for a new pupil.
That way Tony can continue to fly the model himself and people intending to do
some instruction can familiarise themselves in advance with model and buddy-box
system.

Very generous of Tony and Mike to make available this good-quality equipment -
and equally generous of Ian Nicholls and Malcolm Stamp to have made other
offers. With this new plane, the existing Multiplex club trainer donated by
Bryan and Mike Hodgkiss, and Keith Ashover's new one when complete we should be
well set up for new fliers in 2019. Bring them on!

PS - another positive development: Keith Ashover has his fingers crossed to
receive a wood-chip delivery to the field Saturday to improve the muddy
entrance. If this comes off, volunteers will be needed to help on the day.
Keith will email the list with details if and when confirmed.
PPS - still looking for a logo.

Touched at the fast and generous response to the call for an additional club
trainer. Talking the the relevant people off-list and will get back. looks like
we shall be OK but if there are any more offers please get them in quickly.

Hi Nick,
The club could have my Wot 4 trainer as I have another one still in its box
awaiting build. Let me know if it’s suitable.

Nick,
I have available, for free, an old (built 1980's) aerobatic 4 channel trainer
balsa and film ex IC converted to electric (I called it Flame) that I used to
teach my Grandson after high wing trainer. Complete with servos and motor. Not
a lot of space for large battery I'll have to check what size will fit. Photo
attached .
Also a MFA Yamamoto 3 channel control airframe ex 40 IC and would need a
modeller to add a motor or engine. Wing foam solar film covered no ailerons but
could be added (optionally reduce the dihedral). Fuselage fuel proof but of
course gum engine oil in need of cleaning off. Rudder needs one hinge
re-gluing. It would need a modeller to fit out with servos and complete I can
take photos. It is clearly not ideal. Let me know what you think.
Hopefully you can get more suitable ready to fly. Similar model image an
article attached.
Let me know
Ian

Subject: North Downs mailing list: club trainers
Does any generous soul have a spare four-channel electric model doing nothing
which we could use as a club trainer?
(As part of the drive to boost membership we need to offer training to new
pilots, on a club machine with a buddy-box. We already have the Mentor with
Bryan and Rob is offering his 3-channel Radio Queen for trial flights. Two more
4-channel machines would put us in a good position to cope with any likely
demand with a bit of slack for breakages. Keith has one additional 4-channel
machine and buddy-box set-up in preparation. Mike A has put together a
buddy-box system and the point of this appeal is that we're looking for a model
to go with this.)
Come up with a spare machine and a club logo and you win Member of the Month
(in a good way).
