I wonder if the currently available Net::DNS module doesn't load 
successfully in build 632. The latest Perl 5.6 build is 635.
You might need to use that.

I can only see that the Net::DNS module is not installed or configured 
properly, so it fails when loaded. 
Try this:
perl -dwe1
use Net::DNS
and see if that tells you anything useful.

Maybe related. You formatted after that 5.8 installation?
So nothing you have there now is from that installation?

LP actually loads it and looks to see if that worked. It's possible the 
module is there (so ppm tells you it's up to date), but LP sees that 
it's not working (so it wants to install it again).
