I finally saw my orchard oriole been hearing him all week. An immature one at
that very high up in his tree. Also saw a blue grosbeak in the wheat field as I
was out walking. So much fun when they come back. Haven’t seen or heard my
crested fly catcher yet??

Heard my first wood thrush Wednesday afternoon at Hickory Hollow on the far
side of the white trail. Lots of ovenbird action too - they all wanted to be
seen and heard.
And eastern box turtles mating in my driveway yesterday in the pouring down
rain. (I'm blushing here.)

I had three Indigo Buntings at our feeders very briefly on Monday. It a first
for us maybe because we have more time to watch these days. Definitely a
treat!

We has six male Indigo Buntings show up all at one time one afternoon,
eating the cracked corn we put out for the squirrels and crows. We have also
had a male and female red-breasted gross beaks visiting the feeders and bird
bath for a drink. So far no blue gross beaks, but my fingers are crossed.
Also, have a brown thrush couple nesting in a bush outside our garage.
Unfortunately, the cow birds are numerous this year. Not sure what to do
about that. Fun to watch the crows dueling with the squirrels over the
cracked corn.

We have had at least one Blue Grosbeak hanging out with us for over a week
over on Henry’s Creek (often of Indian Creek). My friend Barbara Keeler
just a mile a way on Kent’s Cove at the southern end of Dividing Creek has
had both Blue and Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, and both male and female this
week. I was fortunate to get photos from both properties (while social
distancing off course!)

This morning Edie and I saw Blue Grosbeaks for the first time this year. I
couldn't get a good picture of them, but we saw at least one female, two
adult males and a juvenile male. The juvenile looked funky, half blue and
half brown.
