Just an FYI -
I stopped at George Washington's Birth Place yesterday, to make an attempt at
counting the birds. It wasn't easy....my fingers went numb in about 5 minutes,
(even with gloves), any light breeze made my eyes water and nose dribble...(ew)
But here is the cool news! No lie! I saw @15 eagles!! There were from 7-9
eagles on the ice, 3-4 perched on trees and blinds just in the Popes Creek
area. IN ADDITION, there were 3-4 other bald eagles soaring in the sky! Wow!
Maybe it was brain freeze, but it was amazing! There were also about a
thousand Canada's , and 125 tundra swans. I"m not good at waterfowl, but I
thought there were some ruddy ducks, buffleheads, common mergansers on the
Creek. Off the beach there were buffleheads, hooded mergansers and maybe
scaups. Again, watery eyes made it super hard for me to see clearly. It was
certainly worth the stop. 🦅
