This is kind of an FYI for you citizens of the commonwealth of Va.  For those
of you not real familiar w/me, yeah, I'm a tree hugger, you could say, but I'm
not a radical.  I am not anti-hunting though. I don't like it, but I tolerate
responsible hunting/hunters.   If you can get beyond the PETA thing down below,
it's worth a read if you want to take any kind of action on this bill.    I had
no idea whatsoever this was being considered.   So act fast if you want your
voice heard.

Dear Melissa,

Unbelievably, Virginia House Bill (H.B.) 1142 seeks to legalize the slingshot
as a hunting implement for most species! With their limited range and accuracy,
slingshots virtually guarantee that hunted victims would suffer even more than
they otherwise would. And legitimizing this weapon for hunting would only
encourage children, the most common users of slingshots, to harm and kill
animals "for fun." This irresponsible bill has already passed the Virginia
House; has been referred to the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation
and Natural Resources; and is on the docket for the February 25 committee
meeting—so your voice is urgently needed!

Please paste the following e-mail addresses into your "To" field, and urge the
members of the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources to
vote NO on H.B. 1142 and not pass it out of committee:

district28@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district24@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district15@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district26@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district09@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district34@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district37@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district20@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district13@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district01@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district30@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district06@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district38@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; district16@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;
district19@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Please also contact your designated Virginia Senate representative and politely
ask him or her to oppose H.B. 1142 should it pass out of committee—then share
this alert far and wide!

Thank you for speaking up for animals.

Sincerely,

Jenn Forbes
