BIRD WALK AT BEAVERDAM PARK IN GLOUCESTER SATURDAY, APRIL 28 On Saturday, April 28, the Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) will conduct a bird walk at Beaverdam Park near Gloucester Court House. This walk will be led by Frank Schaff. Participants should meet at 8:00 a.m. at the ranger station. This beautiful park has a 63.5 acre lake and many trails for bird and wildlife watching. Among the many possible sightings are osprey, herons, swallows, belted kingfishers, woodpeckers, bald eagles and early migrating birds To reach Beaverdam Park, follow Route 17 south from Saluda Courthouse approximately 13.5 miles. You will see the hospital on the left. At the next light after the hospital, turn left onto Business Rt. 17 (Main Street). Go .4 mile and turn left onto Rt. 616 (Roaring Springs Rd.). Go 2.4 miles and turn right into the main park entrance. Follow the road to the main parking lot by the lake. The ranger station is at the edge of the lake.
