On Saturday, April
28, the Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) will conduct a bird walk at
Beaverdam Park near Gloucester Court House. This walk will be led by Frank
Schaff. Participants should meet at 8:00 a.m. at the
ranger station.

This beautiful park
has a 63.5 acre lake and many trails for bird and wildlife watching. Among the
many possible sightings are osprey,
herons, swallows, belted kingfishers, woodpeckers, bald eagles and early
migrating birds

To reach Beaverdam Park,
follow Route 17 south from Saluda Courthouse
approximately 13.5 miles. You will see
the hospital on the left. At the next
light after the hospital, turn left onto Business Rt. 17 (Main Street). Go .4
mile and turn left onto Rt. 616 (Roaring Springs Rd.). Go 2.4 miles and turn
right into the main
park entrance. Follow the road to the
main parking lot by the lake. The ranger
station is at the edge of the lake.

Binoculars and
water-resistant shoes are recommended.
Several pairs of loaner binoculars will be available. For additional
information, call Frank Schaff
at
