BIRD WALK AT BEAVERDAM PARK IN GLOUCESTER JUNE 10
On Monday, June 10, the Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) will conduct a
bird walk at Beaverdam Park near Gloucester Court House at 9:00a.m. This
beautiful park has a 635-acre lake and many trails for birding and wildlife
watching. Trails go through forests and along the edge of the lake. Among the
many possible sightings are osprey, herons, swallows, belted kingfishers,
warblers, woodpeckers and bald eagles.

From Kilmarnock, take Rt 3 across the Greys Point/Whitestone Bridge. From the
south end of the bridge, go 1.7 miles and turn left onto Dirt Bridge Road. Go
.9 mile and turn right onto Regent Road. Go 2.3 miles and turn left onto Rtes.
33/3 (General Puller Highway). Go .5 mile and bear right onto Rt. 3 (Twigs
Ferry Road). Go 4.6 miles & turn right onto Rtes. 3/198 (Buckley Hall Road).
Go 1.6 mile and turn left onto Rt 3 (Windsor Road). Go 2.1 miles and turn
right onto Rtes. 3E/14W (John Clayton Memorial Highway). Go 6.4 miles and turn
right onto US 17 BR/14 W (Main Street). Follow Main Street around the circle
at the courthouse. Go .3 mile. Turn right onto Rt. 616 (Roaring Springs Rd.).
Go 2.4 miles to the main park entrance. Follow the road to the main parking
lot by the lake. Meet in the parking lot.
From Saluda Courthouse, drive approximately 13.5 miles. You will see the
hospital on the left. At the next light after the hospital, turn left onto
Business Rt. 17 (Main Street). Go .4 mile and turn left onto Rt. 616 (Roaring
Springs Rd.). Go 2.4 miles to the main park entrance. Follow the road to the
main parking lot by the lake. Meet in the parking lot.
