Northern Neck Audubon's Members Have been Invited
The Gazette-Journal is holding an open house to honor Walter Becknell's career
as a staff member of their newspaper.
Walter Becknell began photographing birds as a teenager on a farm in Indiana.
Walter has many photos of birds and other wildlife as well as aerial views of
the area over the years. His photos of Great Horned Owls will be among the many
on display.
Walter Becknell moved with his young family to Gloucester County in 1956 where
he worked at the newspaper and continued his photography. While Walter was
with the Gazette-Journal he recorded thousands of news events.
Walter Becknell has donated his portfolio to the Gazette - Journal. His photos
will be on exhibit at the open house that is being held on October 13, 2011
from 11am - 2 pm at the Gazette-Journal ( 6625 Main Street, Gloucester )
