Hello everyone.
I hope you're all ready to start a new year helping our little chapter do the
best it can with what it has. I'm adding this email to the list-serv so that
anyone who is interested in joining us, can. Everyone in the chapter is welcome
to attend the board meetings. In fact, I encourage it for anyone who is
interested in becoming more active in the chapter, or is considering serving on
the Board or as an Officer.
This meeting will be very 'business-y". Jim Wagner will be explaining the
function of the Foundation, and the relationship between it and the chapter.
Please avail yourself of the documents I've attached to the email. In addition,
you may want to look at Section 9 in the handbook about "Financial Grants", b/c
this also pertains to the Foundation. I hope it allows you to get an idea of
the whole chapter/foundation idea. If you have questions about it all, Monday's
the day for them.
Also, I hope you all had a chance to look over the proposed By-Laws that Paula
sent earlier this week. This is the beginning of an overhaul of our By-Laws and
Handbook. It hasn't been done since 2003. So if you have any questions about
them, Monday's the day.
This meeting was not planned when we last met in December. But the week after
that meeting I came up against some issues that should not have been issues. In
order to avoid any recurrences, I wanted to start the year off with some of the
basics. Goodness knows, I still have much to learn about the chapter. It's a
little more complicated than I thought. I hope we can start out this year with
more clarity of vision, "floaters" aside (young people may not get that
reference), & more effective communication amongst ourselves and with the
public.
