Joe, Fabulous news! I was trying to interest some budding Master Naturalists in
the project when we took our training class their last Saturday, 13. Zach was
worried about the disrepair and nails sticking out and will be thrilled!!!!
Thank you and Brent so very, very much! An zebra swallowtail approves too!

Subject: [nnasnet] Hickory Hollow
All,
Last week I had the pleasure of helping Brent do some repairs down at Hickory
Hollow on the boardwalk towards Cabin Swamp. Brent noticed the boardwalk had
come apart at a seem between two sections. It was also destabilized on one
side due to lack of adequate support.
Brent was able to visualize a fix to the problem. The swamp side was at least
8 to 10 inches lower than the other side. He was able to fabricate some repair
panels and also cut a few supports from a cedar 4x4 post he had laying around.
On Wednesday April 17th we went out to Hickory Hollow and started the repairs.
All this made easier by Brent's meticulous process of eliminating unnecessary
tools and supplies. After a short walk we arrived. Within two hours we were
wrapping the project up with complete repairs.
I am not sure about the rest of the boardwalk, but that particular section is
sturdy and secure. Thanks for letting me be of service. Se photos below for
an idea of the damage and the final repairs. Which by the way have met with
overwhelming support of the dogs and the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly.
