A service of the Northern Neck Audubon Society---
Four spotted sandpipers and a single lesser yellowlegs in the small puddle near
the entrance to Dameron Marsh NAP kicked off the fall migration (and my birding
year) yesterday. Indigo buntings, field sparrows, mockingbirds and lots of
other species are still deep in breeding/summertime behaviors but swallows are
flocking up and days are getting noticeably shorter.
