BIRD WALK AT BEAVERDAM PARK IN GLOUCESTER JUNE 27
On Monday, June 27,
the Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) will conduct a bird walk at Beaverdam
Park near Gloucester Court House at 9:00a.m.
This walk will be led by Frank Schaff and Jeff Wright.
This beautiful park
has a 63.5 acre lake and many trails for bird watching. Among the many
possible sightings are osprey,
herons, swallows, belted kingfishers, warblers, woodpeckers and bald eagles.
To reach Beaverdam
Park, follow Route 17 south from Saluda Courthouse approximately 13.5
miles. You will see the hospital on the
left. At the next light after the
hospital, turn left onto Business Rt. 17 (Main Street). Go .4 mile and turn
left onto Rt. 616 (Roaring Springs Rd.).
Go 2.4 miles to the main park entrance.
Follow the road to the main parking lot by the lake. The ranger station is at
the edge of the
lake. The GPS address is 8687 Roaring
Springs Rd, Gloucester, VA.
