Tony,
We will meet in South Orange at Ridgewood and Glenside, and then pick up
Rachelle in West Orange, per my instructions. You can drive to Ridgewood and
Glenside to start your ride, or ride from house and leave enough time to get
to the South Orange start at 10:00
Peter

Subject: [njdawgs] WEEKEND RIDES
Because of the cold weather I am shifting my Friday exercise to indoors.
Temp should be warmer on Sunday, particularly if you factor in that we set our
clocks back and hour early Sunday morning.
I am proposing a 10:00 start (That is 9:00 if you forgot to turn your clock
back an hour). The temperature will be in the high 40's and 50's.
What do people think about doing the "north" route? For those who don't know
this route. Here is a brief description. We meet at Glenside Road and N.
Ridgewood and head north across Main Street in West Orange and once in
Montclair we work our way up to Undercliff Road, across Bloomfield Avenue and
continue on Highland Avenue. At the end of Highland we do a steep downhill to
Little Falls and parallel the Passaic river for a short strech. We cross 46
and 80 for the first time to get to Sand Point and then Horseneck Roads. We
cross over 46 and following the 280-service road to an Italian bakery at the
beginning of Eagle Rock Avenue for a break. After the break we resume the ride
on Ridgedale and continue until we reach Main Street in Madison. We then
ride through one of our normal routes back to Summit. etc.
The ride has great views of the Manhattan skyline and plenty of fall foliage.
I would concede that the ride through West Orange is not all that pleasant, but
it is short. There is an extremely steep but short climb to get from Eagle Rock
Avenue to Undercliff Road.
Rachelle, if you plan to do the Sunday ride, we can meet at the intersection of
Main Street and Eagle Rock Avenue/Harrison Street. Lets allow about 20 to 30
minutes to meet up with you.
I am giving everyone an extra day to ponder Sunday options.
Peter
