ONE was founded on a simple principle: *where you live should not determine
whether you live. *
These words are our North Star. They are boldly printed at the entrance to
our DC headquarters so our staff — people of all faiths, all races, and all
political ideologies — is reminded every day of what we’re here to do. This
belief is not partisan. It’s not even political.
Guided by this principle, ONE speaks out for the world’s most vulnerable
people, whether they were born into extreme poverty, or thrust into it by
war, famine, or political strife.
*Today, we’re joining organizations and political leaders from both parties
who are speaking up for the rights of refugees and immigrants — some of the
most vulnerable people on the planet. *
We are not naive - there are real threats that face this nation. A response
to them must be thoughtful and measured. We are deeply concerned the
President’s executive order increases the vulnerability of people escaping
hardship globally while doing little to decrease our own.
We are urging Congress to do everything in its power to reverse President
Trump’s executive order. We strongly encourage you to do the same by
