As some of you know, I was appointed by President Obama to chair the
President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs in 2014. Yesterday, I and 9 other
Commissioners resigned because we believe that the current Administration’s
actions and intentions have been diametrically opposite to the values and
interests of all AAPIs. We attempted to work with him but had no
collaborative activities. With the 75th anniversary of the Japanese
American mass incarceration as reminder that nothing, not even freedom, is
guaranteed for any of us, the Commissioners who resigned felt that the best
thing we could do for our communities is to resign and resist.
I willl send a link to our resignation letter shortly.
