Thank you for sharing this with me, Roberto. Here is the info I sent out. See
you soon!
The water protectors at Standing Rock still need your help. I’m sure some of
you have seen the violence they are being subjected to as they peacefully
protest the destruction of an aquifer and building on sacred ground. It would
be incredibly powerful, if you are at a gathering this weekend, to just ask
everyone to take out their phone and donate $5 to the Zaniyan medical team at
Standing Rock. Or have everyone call some of the numbers below. You can read
about the healer’s work here. They run the Zaniyan Wellness Space and the
Woman’s Wellness Mobile Camp. The protestors are being shot with rubber bullets
— with enough force to break an eye socket, or in one case, nearly take off a
woman’s arm — and being hit with water cannons in freezing temperatures. The
medical camp is working round the clock to take care of everyone in the camp as
well as those being attacked on the front lines. Here is a statement from the
healers:
The physicians and tribal healers with the Standing Rock Medic and Healer
Council call for the immediate cessation of use of water cannons on people who
are outdoors in 28F ambient weather with no means of active rewarming in these
conditions. As medical professionals, we are concerned for the real risk of
loss of life due to severe hypothermia under these conditions.
We call on the Morton County Sheriff’s office to immediately stop the
potentially lethal use of these confrontational methods against people
peacefully assembled.
We request media support, medical support and observers to the area immediately.

Do you have an email about Standing Rock which gives the number for the army
corps of engineers to call and protest? I seem to have lost it.
Thanks and see you later.Roberto

Subject: Christmas on Rosebud
Christmas 2016Remember your Relatives and Water Protectors
Life is hard for Indian people - they live in ‘a third world’.
Unemployment runs at 80% on the reservation and many children go to bed cold
and hungry. Homelessness is increasing and there are more and more pitiful
souls begging on the street every day, and rummaging through the trash cans for
outdated food.
Please give what you can this Christmas to a forgotten people.
Cheques and money orders can be sent to Elva Thompson. Box 253 White River.
South Dakota 57579. OR give a donation by credit card to The White Horse
Christmas Account at Buche’s Foods in Mission, South Dakota. The manager’s name
is Mike Husman and the telephone number is 605 - 856 - 4418The money collected
in the ‘White Horse Christmas Fund’ is divided up into $200 increments at the
winter solstice and gift cards are distributed to needy families to buy items
such as shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap or detergent that cannot be
bought with Food Stamps. Water protectorsEleven brave souls returning from the
front lines of the pipeline protest to Rosebud on November 23rd found
themselves without food this Thanksgiving. They had missed the turkeys, ham and
vegetables given away by the tribe. A case of sweetcorn and a turkey was all
that Cy Eagle Road could find to feed eleven adults and a child until food
stamps day. December 10th. Cy came to our house for help. We gave him forty
pounds of meat, bread, butter, coffee, sugar, and other food.We could help
because of your generosity.
In the attachments below you will see little Raine Black Lance. This little
girl has shelter, warmth, clothes and food because of your generosity. There is
a picture of Cy Eagle Road who has been singing for the religious ceremonies at
the pipeline protest. He is part of our singing group Wakan Hoye Yapi also
pictured.
Also a photo I took at the end of the first year of our sundance.
We are not alone....
Only with the heart can one see rightly. What is essential is invisible to
the eye. The Little Prince.
