Newts,
Much more trail work to be done on Colville Mountain! :) The section of trail
from Colville Mountain Road to Powerline Road is pretty much done minus a bit
of reinforcing a couple corners I can take care of myself some time. Next on
the agenda is fine-tuning the part of the upper trail we've already dug, then
continuing it on along further east until it will drop down and loop back
around to where the lower trail connects to Powerline Road. I will be working
this Saturday the 20th from about 7AM until noon or 1ish(whenever I drop from
exhaustion) and I would love some company ;)
We've already had 272 labor hours put into building the trail we have, and
there is a lot more to go. The good news is that th...e trail we've already
completed is on the steep rocky part of the mountain and the rest of the
projected trail will be constructed MUCH faster.
To get to where we will be working the easiest route is walking up Colville
Mountain Road (off May Road) and continuing to walk straight and not turning
with the first switchback in the road. You will soon be walking along a mostly
completed section of trail which we will be improving first. If you don't find
me on that section of trail before coming out onto an ATV road that means I had
a lot of people come up already and we finished dialing in that section of
trail and moved on to starting the next section. (We probably won't get that
far) Turn right when the trail drops you onto the ATV road and follow that
until you see some new trail being built.
Bring some dirt moving tools if you have any, if not I'll have extra. Water,
food, work gloves and safety glasses are also recommended. I hope to see you
out there!
Danny
