Thousands of Arabs in Libya, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Jordan have
demonstrated calling for resorting to weapons instead of peaceful
initiatives to challenge Israel, in a step which revealed the rejection
of the Arab citizens for the Arab summit in Beirut to open the road
before establishing normal relations with Israel.

Thousands of Libyans took the streets in the streets of Benghazi to the
northern East of tripoli demanding the Arabs to be "up to the level of
heavy sacrifices given by the Palestinian people." The demonstrators
raised banners expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and
condemning the " terrorism conducted by the Israeli forces against
them." The participants in the demonstration which toured the streets of
the city said in a statement that "the terrorist acts carried out by
Sharon against the Palestinian people, backed by the evil forces which
support this racial entity, will not undermine the ill of the
Palestinians and the flame of the Intifada will continue."

In Damascus, more 50,000 Syrian and Palestinian citizens, including
human rights activists demonstrated on Wednesday in front of the
headquarters of the UN in Damascus demanding the Arab leaders to give
support for the Palestinians and to take tough measures towards Israel.

In Cairo, a demonstration was held denouncing the initiative of the
Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. The demonstrators said "
liberation can be made by weapons, rather the Saudi initiative." They
chanted " You coward Arab governments, either resistance, or treason."
In Amman, some 200 trade unionists held a sit in for last an hour and
urged the Arab leaders who are meeting in Beirut to support the
Intifada. Most Jordanian trade unionists stopped working for five
minutes in protest for the Israeli practices against the Palestinians.

In Baghdad, some 1000 students of Baghdad university demonstrated in
support of the Intifada.
