The GEF project “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservationand Sustainable Use
into Inland Fisheries Practices in Freshwater Ecosystem ofHigh Conservation
Value (I-Fish) is to support on Indonesia, particularly theMinistry of Marine
Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) Republic of Indonesia toaddress the main threats
of its inland aquatic biodiversity and to remove themain barriers to
conservation and sustainable use of its inland waters. The project aims to
strengthen the managementframework for sustainable use of inland aquatic
biodiversity to increase theprotection of hig conservation-value freshwater
ecosystems and theirbiodiversity in Indonesia. The projectis expected to
increase the provision of ecosystem goods and services andenhance food security
for local people dependent on inland fisheries for theirlivelihoods. The
project strategy is tomainstream conservation and sustainable use of inland
aquatic biodiversity intoresource development and management policies and
processes, with demonstrationof conservation and sustainable use of inland
aquatic biodiversity in criticalhabitats at five sites in Kalimantan,Java and
Sumatera, and effective monitoring and assessment.
The incumbent willperform the tasks assigned underthe overall supervision of
the Assistant FAORepresentative (Program) in Indonesia and the direct
supervision of NationalProject Manager (NPM) and in coordination with
theNationalConsultants/Experts and FAO staff, will supportthe coordination,
implementation and routine monitoring of the project. The incumbent will
beresponsible to undertake the followingtask:
· Providesdirect assistance to the National Project Manager and ensures
smooth andefficient communication and information flow within the project team;
· Collectrelevant data and information both from the National
Consultants and otherrelated parties for Monitoring the project implementation
against the processesand its schedules related to project outputs, products,
tasks, etc. and informsthe NPM and project team ahead of time on deadlines;
· Providesupport to the Project Management Unit, particularly the
Project manager forpreparing the Term of Reference of meetings, prepares the
meeting organization,drafting meeting minutes and monitors follow-up activities;
· Providesassistance in the coordination of supporting services of
meetings, training,workshops etc., and events of the Project in collaboration
with other staff ofthe country office;
· Maintainsproject activity calendar/schedules; monitors changes and
communicate relevantinformation to appropriate project staff;
· Performsother duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements Candidates should meet thefollowing requirements:
· First leveluniversity degree is required. Degree in fisheries science,
natural resourcemanagement or a related field is desirable;
· Knowledgeand 5 years experience in general project management and
monitoring processes;
· Experiencein administrative support functions including note taking
and meetingarrangements;
· Demonstrated goodorganizational skills in supporting a team of
consultants/experts
· Demonstrated goodclient orientation;
· Familiar withcomputer skill such as MS office, Power Point, excel, MS
Words;
· Excellentcommunication, writing and presentation skills in English.
Languages:Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
Durationand Commitment:Full time (October 2018 – September 2019) with possible
extension during project period and depend on the performance
