Landscape for two forest restoration sites in West/Central Kalimantan
Background
SNV Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) is an international
not-for-profit development organisation established in 1965 in the Netherlands.
Our global team of advisors use their specialised expertise in Agriculture,
Energy and WASH to improve the health and livelihoods of millions of people,
with a focus on the poor and marginalized groups.
SNV is a consortium member of The Dutch Fund for Climate and Development
(DFCD). The initiative provides finance and Technical Assistance to mobilize
and scale external private sector funding for climate smart development. SNV
manages Origination Facility (OF) and identifies investment opportunities that
support climate change adaptation, mitigation as well as key sustainable
development co-benefits such as biodiversity conservation, environmental
protection, poverty reduction and gender equality. The OF has identified
opportunities with Forest Carbon to co-develop and scale the conservation,
restoration and sustainable management of key mangroves, peatlands, wetlands
and other high carbon and biodiversity conservation tropical forest landscapes
in Indonesia.
SNV is assisting Forest Carbon with project development at multiple project
sites across West and Central Kalimantan with high potential for the
development of carbon forestry projects with high carbon, biodiversity, and
community development potential. Forest Carbon is in the process of assessing
feasibility and securing investment from a consortium of investors to develop
two of these sites into long-term projects.
SNV is seeking an Indonesian consultancy firm or a team of consultants to
undertake a landscape analysis in those two project sites. The purpose of the
task is to better understand the wider landscape and dynamics impacting on the
priority sites to identify other, synergistic, investments. The analysis
conducted by the service provider will play a key role to secure commercial
investment to launch a long-term project by providing a foundation of data to
support future information gathering.
Essential Criteria for Pre-Qualification
A firm or team of consultants, with minimum 7 years of proven track record
working in Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use sector in Indonesia. The
team composition must show proven experience in GIS, remote sensing, and
LUA-LUCA in Indonesia and conducting stakeholder interviews, recording
community perceptions and perspectives and leading equitable community
engagement Working familiarity with mangrove and peatland ecosystem will be an
advantage. Excellent writing and communication skill in Indonesian and English.
