Climate, Environment and Natural Resources (CENR)
Palladium’s Climate, Environment and Natural Resources Practice Area supports
the strengthened governance of natural resources, particularly forests, and
works with stakeholders to build resilience to the worst impacts of climate
change. We collaborate with governments, businesses, NGOs and communities to
tackle the complex problems posed by climate change, environmental degradation
and natural resource extraction.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Palladium is currently exploring several opportunities to expand its portfolio
of forestry work in Indonesia. This will include a focus on collaborating with
private sector firms and investors in the forestry sector, as well as working
with policy makers to create the right enabling environment for trade in
sustainable commodities and the growth of community-based forest enterprises.
We are seeking Senior Forestry Experts to provide technical expertise and
leadership to future Palladium projects based in Indonesia, under the company’s
Climate, Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) cluster. We are looking for
individuals with the ability to provide strategic programme guidance as well as
representing both Palladium and project teams at meetings with representatives
of government, donors, civil society and private sector partners.
We are interested in hearing from candidates with one or more of the following
areas of expertise:
- Community based forest enterprises;
- Social forestry, land use rights and licensing;
- Markets for innovative, sustainable forest products;
- Policy making and governance in the forest and land use sector in
Indonesia;
- Forest Management Unit planning and operationalisation;
- Sustainable forest commodity supply chains, traceability and
production standards;
- Business models for sustainable commodity production;
- Catalysing investment into sustainable land use;
- Blended finance models;
- Transparency, accountability and forest sector monitoring by civil
society.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in programme design and strategy development
- Strong leadership or management skills
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in forestry, environmental science,
politics, international affairs, policy, social sciences, law, development
studies or related field;
- Prior experience of working with donor funded projects;
- Experience of engaging and working with senior leadership in
government, civil society, and private sector in Indonesia;
- Strategic ability in diplomacy, conflict management, written and oral
communication, and negotiation skills;
- Fluency in English and Bahasa.
