1. BACKGROUNDINFORMATION
Solidar Suisse is a Swiss NGO establishedin 1936 (then called Swiss Labor
Assistance). Today, the organization is activein development cooperation and
humanitarian aid in 16 countries worldwide, fightingfor global fairness.
In Indonesia, Solidar Suisse became activefollowing the devastating earthquake
and tsunami in Sulawesi and immediatelystarted to collaborate with partner
organizations to provide humanitarianassistance.
For the recovery phase, Solidar Suisse implementsa comprehensive emergency
project with the local partner organization MDMC inthe livelihood sector to
support affected people mainly in rural areas inCentral Sulawesi.
To implement these initiatives, a highlyqualified team is being established.
For this purpose, we are seeking amotivated, skilled and experienced Business
Coordinator to coordinate and managethe value chain development component of
the livelihoods project of thisprogram.
The Business Coordinator will support theLivelihood Project Manager and
external Experts in conducting value chain assessments,engage and empower
producer organisations, BUMDES and other actors along thevalue chains of the
selected products, manage trainings and provide ToT for thefield team.
2. PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Business Coordinator will support theLivelihood Project Manager in
coordinating and managing the program activities inthe selected villages. Under
direct supervision of the Livelihoods ProjectManager, s/he will facilitate
several valuechain assessments, establish or revive and empower local producer
organisations andengage other actors along the value chains of the selected
products. S/he willalso facilitate training of trainers for the business
facilitators andcoordinate other relevant activities for micro-entrepreneurs to
recover theirlivelihoods following the devastated earthquake and tsunami in
CentralSulawesi. S/he will manage a team of approximately five business
facilitators.S/he will establish and maintain positive, collaborative and
productiverelationships with project staff, implementing partner, beneficiaries
and relevantstakeholders. S/he will also collaborate with the Monitoring,
Evaluation,Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Expert to ensure the
implementation of theMEAL framework.
3. MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Coordinator is entrusted with the following tasks:
· Coordinate and facilitateproject kick-off meetings in the selected
villages
· Coordinate the valuechain assessments of the selected products
· Coordinate and facilitatethe process of producer group selection,
establishment, engagement andempowerment
· Develop and/or adapt thetraining curriculum and training materials
· Coordinate the schedules oftraining and exposure visits for the target
producer organisations, BUMDES andother actors along the value chains of the
selected products
· Develop and producetraining curriculum, training material and IEC
materials
· Lead training activitiesand when relevant facilitate training of the
business facilitators and the producerorganisations
· Ensure quality controland management of training, assessment and
engagement activities
· Facilitate datacollection for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and
Learning (MEAL)framework for information to be used for planning, learning and
reportingpurposes
· Liaise and coordinatewith the implementing partner to ensure effective
delivery of value chaindevelopment activities
· Regularly report to theLivelihoods Project Manager (incl. written
reports)
· Perform other duties as assignedby the Livelihoods Project Manager
4. Required profile and experience
The trainingcoordinator has the following profile and experience:
· University degree orrelevant working experience of at least 7 years
· Experience inagribusiness and working for private companies
· Experience inthe implementation of value chain development projects
· At least 5years of training facilitation, coordination and partner
collaboration experience,preferable some experiences in post disasters contexts
· Understandingof and experience with community facilitation and
participatory trainingtechniques
· Passion forworking with micro-entrepreneurs and good understanding of
the situation ofsurvivors following the devastated earthquake and tsunami in
Central Sulawesi
· Experience in developingand adaptation of training curriculum,
materials and IEC
· Ability tocollaborate with partners and colleagues and establish a
constructive workingatmosphere
· Excellentskills in activity planning and coordination
· Proven abilityto develop, coordinate and monitor work plans and
training plans
· Stronginterpersonal, time management and communication skills
· Strong verbaland written English skills would be preferred
· Ability towork under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours
5. Duration and starting date
We lookfor a candidate who is able to start on 1 August 2020, with contract
durationof 12 months with possibility of extensionfor another 10 months.
