As a part of Indonesia – German Cooperation in reducingemission from forestry
sector as well as improving livelihood of ruralcommunities a project name
Peatland Management and Rehabilitation has beenimplemented. The project aims
to developthe planning and implementation capacities to rehabilitate peat
ecosystem andmangrove forest in Kayan Sembakung Delta. The module combines
policy and capacity development measures. Activities are implemented at the
macro-mesoand micro levels (pilot measures are used here as well). Policy
advice is one area in which closecooperation at National level with the
Environment and Forestry Ministry ispursued.
The project expected to deliver the several basic outputsas follows:
- Integrated planning processes for the protection andsustainable management
of peat ecosystems and mangrove in Kayan Sembakung DeltaArea.
- Improved peat and wetlands ecosystems land usesystem/practices.
- Results from applied research and documented field experienceswill be
distributed at local, national and international levels.
For this reason, PROPEAT seeks a qualified Indonesiancandidate for the
following position:
Intern for Mapping support forParticipatory Land Use Planning and Peat
Rehabilitation Activities
A. Responsibilities
Support the PROPEAT projecton participatory land use planning process and
mapping potential rehabilitationareas in North and East Kalimantan
B. Tasks
· Assist the PROPEAT project in implementingparticipatory land use
planning at village level,
· Support the implementation of GPS operatingtraining for local
community,
· Support the training for community on conductingparticipatory land use
plan, especially for the process and method,
· Assist the Integrative Land use Advisor indeveloping various thematic
maps for participatory land use planning,
· Assist the Peat Management and RehabilitationAdvisor on field
identification peatland area for rehabilitation,
· Support the Peat Management and RehabilitationAdvisor for field
assessment for peatland rehabilitation,
· Assist the Integrative Land use Advisor ondeveloping maps of area for
peatland rehabilitation, including canals mapping.
· Assist the Peat Management and RehabilitationAdvisor to provide
information and maps for the proposed peatlands forrehabilitation,
· Collecting field data and photos from the fieldassessment for peatland
rehabilitation,
· Support development of land rehabilitationtechnical plan,
· Compiling spatial and non-spatial related data,provide the metadata of
the compiled data.
C. Required qualifications, competencesand experience
Qualifications
· Fresh graduate or bachelor student in Forestryor its equivalent.
Professionalexperiences
· Basic knowledge of peatland and rehabilitation,
· Basic knowledge of Participatory land used plan,
· Familiar with GIS software and data analysis,
· Ability to operate drones,
· Knowledge and skills about digitalization,
· Good conceptual, inter-personal communication,self-employment,
coordination, facilitation, and representation skills,
· Strong interest to work on issues related togender, natural resource
management, and peatland ecosystem.
Otherknowledge, additional competences
· Goodcommunication, organisational and information management skills,
· Interculturalunderstanding is additional advantages,
· Self-motivatedwith time and stress management skills and ability to work
with minimumsupervision,
· Goodcommand of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word),
· Experiencein writing scientific report is an advantage,
· Proficiencyin English and very good writing skills,
· Abilityto work in a team and to adapt to an international working
environment.
