Dear Potential Bidders,
NutritionInternational (NI; formerly known as the Micronutrient Initiative) has
supported the Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) program in Indonesiasince 2009 in
12 districts of six provinces with high of mortality rate ofunder-five children
(North Sumatera, South Sumatera, West Java, Banten, Riauand West Nusa
Tenggara). In 2013 up to 2015, NI continued its technicalassistance to the
provincial level to strengthen the capacity of PHO officialsin providing
technical assistance to DHOs on the VAS program implementation. Then, in 2016 to
2018, NI has scaled up the support to national level withfocus to sustaining
the high coverage of VAS for children U5. Further, underISG 2019 funds, NI will
continue its support for the VAS program at nationallevel in Indonesia from
2019 up to 2024.
InIndonesia, the VAS for the children 6-59 months is distributed
throughPosyandu, Puskesmas and sweeping (home visit) at community level every
Februaryand August. The VAS distribution for second semester in 2020 has been
plannedfor August 2020. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, MoH has advised
PHOs, DHOsand Puskesmas : (1) to continue to distribute VA to the targeted
children atcommunity level in collaboration with multi sectoral (MoHA
responsible forCOVID managemnent and distribution of PPE, MoH and Ministry of
Internal Affairs) departments; (2) to ensure thesufficient stock of VA for all
targeted children and (3) follow the protocol ofCOVID-19 prevention and local
government policy for regulation in distributionat community level (i.e. green,
yellow or red zone and follow the protocol of safeadministration of VA as per
GAVA recommendations.
Dueto the COVID-19 pandemic, GoI have advised to close Posyandu services
fromMarch 2020 until further advice depending on the COVID situation in
respectiveareas. An interim guideline to continue deliver the nutrition
services in COVID19 including VAS at community level has been developed by MoH.
This guidelinehas been distributed to PHOs and DHOs. However, due to the
increase in COVID-19cases in Indonesia, the interim National guidance on
delivery of NutritionServices (such as VAS, IFA supplementation , growth
monitoring, etc.) in thecontext of COVID Pandemic needs to be socialized to the
health workers andcadres/volunteers at community level. Moreover, the areas
with red zone of COVID-19 need to receive anintensive socialization on the
protocol to be undertaken for VAS for August2020 round.
NIis planning to support MoH and PHOs of Banten, West Java and WNT to
socialize the interim national guidanceand protocol to carry out posyandu
services and undertake VAS in green, yellowand red areas in COVID context
through virtual meetings. Therefore, NI is seeking to hire an agency to conduct
these virtual meeting andworkshops.
