Subject: [NASA Quest Discuss] LIVE Webcasts March 25th and 27th!

Greetings, Friends and Educators, from The SPI Office!

Have you ever wondered how scientists can verify that data collected from
satellites located 705 km above the Earth are accurate? Or wondered how
scientists can combine those data with in situ measurements to paint a
global picture? Discover how scientists are meeting such challenges, plus a
whole lot more, when the SPI Office webcasts live from the peaks of the
Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

Join us live on Tuesday, March 25th at 1:00pm EST when we rendezvous with
Aqua Project Scientist Dr. Claire Parkinson in Colorado to investigate a US
sampling of the worldwide calibration and validation activities that are
being conducted by the Aqua Instrument Science Teams. Places we will focus
on include Hawaii, Virginia, Alaska, Florida, and Colorado. Then come back
on Thursday, March 27th at 1:00pm EST when we venture into the field with
investigators from the Cold Land Processes Experiment (CLPX) to discover how
satellite, aircraft, and in situ measurements are combined in a unique and
comprehensive study of surface hydrology in the western United States.

Webcasts will feature current satellite data from Aqua instruments such as
AMSR-E and MODIS, GIS/GPS data sets, live two-way communication with the
flight decks of the NASA DC-8 and P3-B airplanes flying overhead, and, of
course, the live chat session in which our exciting guests will answer your
questions as they are sent in.

To access the webcasts log onto http://spioffice.gsfc.nasa.gov, and click on
?RESOkit.? Please note that we have introduced a new registration and
log-in requirement for access to our websites. This is to ensure that
viewers and participants will download the proper free software needed to
view our products. The registration is a one-time exercise that is bypassed
during future visits using your personal log-in and password. It will also
include you in our database so we can provide future notices and receive
your feedback.

For additional digital resources about Aqua and CLPX use the ?search? tool
in the RESOkit page and type in keywords ?Aqua? and ?CLPX.?

Also, be sure to check out the Educator Astronaut Program
(http://edspace.nasa.gov) and the Explorer Schools Program
(http://explorerschools.nasa.gov/expschlschl.html). Both have April
deadlines approaching!!!!

Sincerely,

Kathy Bender and Steve Dacey
