EFA Week 2003

With just two years to go to the first of the six EFA goals set in Dakar -
equal numbers of boys and girls in school by 2005 - it is urgent that
governments act now.

All for Girls' Education ! is UNESCO's slogan for EFA Week 2003,
celebrated from 6 to 13 April. It calls on governments to get the gender
balance right.
Learn more about girls' education and how close countries are to reaching
the 2005 goal through the EFA Week 2003 website, just launched.

>> Children in difficult circumstances
-------------------------------------

More than 100 million of the world's children live in the street,
threatened by hunger, violence, drugs, sexual exploitation and HIV/AIDS.
The risks that they face are often over-shadowed by the precariousness of
their situation and the necessity of survival. They suffer from exclusion
and are frequently victims of discrimination. Because they are infected by
HIV/AIDS or threatened by it, they are further marginalized.
