This is a list of 24 orthopedic practices with great sports medicine
programs. The list was devised from recommendations by leaders in sports
medicine, nominations and research.
Content Sample:
Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (Birmingham, Ala.). Founded
in the 1980s by James Andrews, MD, the Andrews Sports Medicine and
Orthopedic Center has grown to expand practice services to recreational
athletes as well as professional players. Dr. Andrews has treated
high-profile professional athletes, including Michael Jordan and Brett
Favre. Dr. Andrews has trained many physicians in sports medicine and is a
past president of the American Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Society.
The practice's physicians provide nonsurgical treatment methods as well as
orthopedic surgery, including total knee and hip arthroplasty as well as
kyphonplasty. The practice offers an advanced scheduling program which
allows patients to electronically schedule appointments. Physicians on
staff work regularly with the Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Rays and
Cincinnati Reds.
