Have you heard about the MASSIVE destruction of US Federal Court
records quietly underway across the nation?

Millions of case files covering the past 25 years are being destroyed
- and there are no backup copies in print or electronic form.

The shredding has been going on since April without publicity. I just
learned about it by accident.
.
Check out this link on the US District Court website in Grand Rapids.

Potentially large numbers of federal cases with significant historical
value will be destroyed.
.
It's obvious from the Grand Rapids court website posting that the Feds
don't have a clue about how the public's records - that's right, these
records belong to the public - will be raped.

It's also obvious that - because of the lack of press coverage - the
public does not have a clue that an important part of the heritage of
America in the latter part of the 20th Century is being obliterated by
bureaucratic bean counters.
.
Let me blunt - this is a wholesale erasure of the public memory
concerning the courts that covers 25 years - a full generation.
.
These court records are of great value to historians, journalists,
investigators for a myriad of reasons and for decades to come.
.
Some quick computer searches reveal no press coverage of this huge
assault on the public's right to know.
