New Citrix Access Essentials? Makes Access Simple, Secure, and Cost-effective
for Small and Midsized Businesses Resellers Get First Look at New Citrix
Product at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Minneapolis, July 8-10
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ? 7/6/2005 ? Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the
global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced the general
availability of Citrix Access Essentials?, the latest addition to Citrix?s
expanding product portfolio specifically developed, packaged and priced to
bring secure remote access and efficient centralized management of information
resources within easy reach of small and midsized businesses (SMBs). The new
product, which will be unveiled to value-added resellers at the Microsoft
Worldwide Partner Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., July 8-10, marks Citrix?s
first move to adapt the proven secure access technologies that the company has
developed over the past 15 years to the pricing and simplicity needs of the SMB
SMBs face continuous challenges in managing the growth and expansion of their
organizations, particularly when accommodating the needs of branch offices and
remote staff. Furthermore, industry analyst research indicates that more than
65 percent of North American midsized businesses have mobile workers, requiring
significant updates to their networks to support them effectively. With Citrix
Access Essentials, Citrix now brings secure and instant access to centralized
information for any organization with up to 75 Microsoft® Windows® users. At
less than $250 per seat, including Windows Terminal Server Client Access
Licenses, it provides customers a cost-effective, secure access point based on
Microsoft Windows Server? 2003 for client/server applications, files and
internal Web sites, allowing system administrators to control who gets what and
?After taking a more conservative approach to IT investments during the dot-com
boom, small and midsized businesses are eager to take advantage of the growing
array of technologies tailored to their needs,? said Mika Yamamoto Krammer,
vice president, Gartner Research. ?SMBs are facing increasing customer demands
for timely and accurate access to information, continual pressures to do more
with less and must take advantage of proven technology to make their operations
more efficient.?1
Citrix Access Essentials combines innovative technologies from Citrix and
Microsoft that allow programs to run centrally and securely on the server while
appearing to run on the user?s local, remote or mobile computer. Users
experience the same responsiveness and protection as if they were on the local
network, even if they?re actually across town or on the other side of the
world. Smaller organizations eager to roll out their CRM, order-entry,
inventory systems and other online resources to their branch offices and remote
or mobile users will find all the necessary features in this tightly integrated
package. Access Essentials provides fast, easy access to corporate information
from any location while reducing the time, expense and resources needed to
manage their systems.
Citrix Access Essentials will be sold entirely through Citrix?s channel of
highly experienced resellers. The software gives resellers the opportunity to
quickly capture smaller accounts eager to access centralized line-of-business
applications, such as order processing and sales force automation, with the
required urgency and security from multiple, often remote, locations. It
further enables resellers to swiftly fulfill the customer?s critical access
needs, providing compelling value at an unprecedented price point.
Additionally, Citrix will expand its channel by recruiting new SMB resellers
through the Microsoft?s Partner Channel Builder tool available at
http://www.microsoft.com/partner, as well as through its extensive roster of
ISV alliances, such as SAP.
?We are pleased to see Citrix Systems continue to deliver customer-focused
access solutions based on the Windows Server 2003 platform,? said Bob Muglia,
senior vice president of the Windows Server Division at Microsoft. ?By
providing the SMB market with a cost-effective secure access solution, Citrix
Access Essentials can enable more customers and partners to extend access to
users from more locations.?
The Information Management Group (IMG), a business engineering consultancy for
SAP?s SMB solutions, is among one of the first resellers to preview the
product. Dr. David Smith, IMG practice manager, noted that Citrix has listened
to channel partners? needs and responded with Access Essentials. ?Citrix gives
our SMB customers the ideal access solution to get them up and running quickly,
as well as the tools for remote support,? said Smith. ?Access Essentials helps
us expand our market and further deliver on Citrix?s value proposition of
anytime, anywhere access to business-critical applications and information.?
