01. RUNPEE at http://www.runpee.com lists various movies and tells you where in the film you might escape to the restroom without missing a lot. If you wish, you can unscramble a description of what happened while you were away. You can add your own PeeTimes as well. All this makes me wonder. Do movie goers take their laptops with them and consult this site for advice when they've got to go?

02. ONLINE TEXT TO SPEECH. I'm not sure what uses can be made of this application at http://speech.japplis.com/, but you simply type text and it repeats it back to you, either as you type or as you complete a line. Now, that should certainly derail your train of thought.

03. SYMENU. A very small application and using practically no resources, SyMenu is a quick way to add links to portable programs, files, Windows commands, folders, and URLs. Download free at http://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenu.aspx .

04. TWEAKS FOR GIMP. A popular graphics editing program, GIMP is free and compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, with an array of features, plug-ins, filters, and brushes. It can be used to author graphics, create logos, edit photos, make short animations; but, it is generally more difficult to use than Photoshop without the tweaks discussed at http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/04/03/8-handy-tweaks-to-make-gimp-replace-photoshop/ . With those tweaks, it becomes a serious contender to replace Photoshop, and it's free.

06. FOREIGN LANGUAGE. Learn 37 languages for free at http://www.oculture.com/2006/10/foreign_languag.html .

07. POSTBOX. Currently in Beta, Postbox sets up a thumbnail gallery of your email and catalogs it so you can browse through documents, files, and more. Download at http://postbox-inc.com/ .

08. BIRDSONGS at http://birdsongradio.com/ let's you listen to, yep, you guessed it, bird songs. There's a lot more noisy stuff on the Net, but sometimes it's just more peaceful to listen to nature.

This is your last call to get a great piece of software at an even greater price. Read about the jv16 Power Tools 2009 at http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs065/1101458487892/archive/1102565696622.html . But you'd better hurry because this NNT deal ends in a few days.

09. WHERE ON EARTH. Way back in my school days, geography was one of my poorest subjects. Maybe if I'd had a game like Where On Earth at http://www.mofunzone.com/online_games/where_on_earth.shtml# it would have put things more in perspective.

10. BUCKETBALL. I never expected to be recruited by the NBA, but this game at http://www.mofunzone.com/popups/bucketball.shtml made me realize just how bad I am.

11. GAME BOOSTER. Not to neglect those NNT readers who enjoy a good game, Game Booster optimizes your PC for a more responsive game by shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying performance on Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and Windows 7. Free download at http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html# .

12. WALLPAPERS. I don't use them but for some they are a work of art. There are more than 35 colorful and inspiring examples of high definition wallpapers at http://www.smashingapps.com/2009/04/12/35-colorful-and-inspiring-examples-of-high-definition-wallpapers.html .
