Happy New Year!

Human nature is a funny thing. Over on the Neat Net Tricks Premium side, I
occasionally do a random drawing for free software. In the latest such
venture, I offered the lucky winners a $35 piece of software, for free, that
does a very good job in replacing Microsoft Word. Old familiar Word is
well-known to be a real glut on our hard drive space and RAM resources, along
with a price tag six times as great as the program I was giving away. The
prize program received high marks by our Software Review Panel and it resembles
Word so closely that I have yet to refer to the users manual.

To my surprise, I set out to give away 25 of these free packages. As of this
writing, I've had to draw 50 names and still have only given half my quota
away. Those declining have a number of reasons, but mostly it's because they
are familiar with Word and don't want to try anything else.

Are we THAT resistant to change? I suppose so.
