Soman and the Captain traded glances. As the crew quieted down, a cloud of
uneasiness began to rise in the room. Soman had to admit to a certain amount,
himself.
Cynan: Sir, all I'm saying is we seem to be going into a situation, and I don't
think we've been given all of the facts.
Santos: This is what I know, Commander. Tomonaga was a mystery from the moment
her keel was laid. Unlike Vanguard, she has a lot of re-engineered technology,
based on assumptions rather than hard data. Not all of it worked correctly.
Commander, I hate mysteries as much as you do. They interfere with my morning
breakfast. That's why I intend to do a little investigating of my own before
we arrive. In the meantime, I'll need everyone to be alert and ready for
whatever we come across. Zena, please familiarize Mr. Vogel on Vanguard's
"special abilities" and proceed with your modifications.
Soman: The bottom line, people is a highly advanced Starfleet vessel is sitting
just outside the Ferengi's backyard and Starfleet wants it back. They sent us
because they know we can accomplish that task.
Santos: Anything else?
Scanning the room, the restlessness of the senior staff had subsided, somewhat.
There still seemed to be a question or two hanging in the air.
Soman: Mr. Darkwater, I'll need you to remain on the Vanguard. I have
something, relating to this mission that will require you expertise.
