Had an interesting assortment of moths on New Year's Day at my farm near Ringwood, Halifax County, NC. With temps never dropping out of the 60's all night, it was perfect for moth action. Here is what I recorded: 6258 Alsophila pometaria (Fall Cankerworm Moth): 6 6659 Phigalia denticulata (Toothed Phigalia): 20+ 6662 Paleacrita vernata (Spring Cankerworm Moth): 4 LIFER 6663 Paleacrita merriccata (Spotted Cankerworm Moth): 1 LIFER 6711 Ilecta intractata (Black-spotted Ruddy Moth): 1 7474 Eupithecia miserulata (Common Eupithecia): 1 9910 Lithophane antennata (Ashen Pinion): 1 9933 Eupsilia vinulenta (Straight-toothed Sallow): 1 -- J. Merrill Lynch Echo Valley Farm Watauga County, NC Elevation: 3,400 feet
