The accepted field marks on this moth seem to fit between the 2 species which 
is why there is confusion.

Merrill, I forgot to ask how big was this moth?

I identified this as Grammia parthenice but Ken Childs (in an exchange
on FB) thinks it's phyllira.  Photo taken 11 Sept. 2012.  Anybody like
to venture a third opinion?
