As is usually the case with Plumes, I don't think anyone is going to go out on a limb and say it's definitely a Hellensia kellicotti. I agree that it does look like a close match but........

The old poker rule sums up my feeling about this one. Usually I can't get anything like an ID on a plume moth, but in this case the pattern on the wings points to Hellensia kellicotti, Hodges #6212, Goldenrod Borer Plume Moth. There's certainly enough goldenrod around the neighborhood. I couldn't get a straight-on photo because the moth was sitting in a tight spot. The image I'm attaching shows the right wing fairly clearly and the pattern is repeated on the left wing. Comments please.
