Students given pop centre
The blighted and benighted National Centre for Popular Music in Sheffield
takes its last bow as the "steel drum" buildings are handed over to
Sheffield Hallam University in an asset-swap deal with the regional
development agency. Students say the building, which will house bars, common
rooms and other facilities for 27,000 students, will also be open to the
