By this, you are talking about "Universe." These are .debs that are packaged specifically for the version of Ubuntu being run. They are put together by the Ubuntu community and subject to pier review. They are not "official" Ubuntu in that they are not part of the standard release. Sun's Java, Windows Media Codecs, cutting edge version of software, etc. are some examples of what you find in Universe. They are Ubuntu .debs are are NOT subject to the Debian-vs-Ubuntu issue discussed in a previous thread.
