Honestly, I'm at the exploration stage of shifting careers right now, thus
I'm trying to find folks who are willing to engage in informational
interviews so I can better understand this potential direction. Joy and
Nicki both have agreed which is great! Could use more perhaps...

In a nutshell, I'm very keen to shift to working remotely so that in about
three years, I can earn a reasonable living from anywhere there's internet
access. I thought with my technical background that technical writing might
be a good fit that allows this to happen: US Navy Nuclear Power
operator/instructor, BS Physics (several large research areas, mostly
particle astrophysics and cosmology hardware development), tech industry
background, education industry background, avid sailor and US Sailing
cruising instructor, conversant in French/Spanish.
However, I have been away from the business/tech world for quite some time
at this point and am unsure of where I could best fit in. And what my value
would be to employers (contractor? employee?)
I currently live in Petaluma and work in Sonoma which is why Joy sent me
your way. If you'd like to be available to discuss this with me, I'd be
quite appreciative. In the meantime, I'll be looking through the archives
and going on internet safaris...

Just to set your expectations accurately, this list is very low volume.
It looks like the last messaging (prior to the recent flurry) was more
than 2 years ago. Many of the more active members have retired, but
there are some of us who are still fairly active in techcomm (and the
retired members are probably still on this list). I'd imagine that once
this covid thing winds down (fingers crossed), we may get together for a
social from time to time, but as far as any sort of an official
"techcomm group," that's on hold for the foreseeable future.
It would be great to hear what you're up to and what your thoughts are
regarding the group. The website does have a lot of good information
from past presentations going back to 2000. Also, while it's not
browsable on the website, the Member Directory is available here ..
